Badger Beginnings

God has blessed and sustained the Badger Grove Community Baptist Church for some 135 years. With humble beginnings, the Badger Church continues to seek new ways to honor and follow Jesus Christ. The church started with 13 people meeting in a home on January 8, 1870. The name Badger Grove comes from the ample supply of small animals (badgers) that lived nearby. In 1877, hard times hit Badger Church due to local crop failures. However, through prayer and perseverance, the summer of 1887 witnessed the construction of the present church building (pictured on the right).
The original structure had one room, two coal stoves for heat, and oil lamps for lighting. In 1918, the congregation added two classes and a basement. A vibrant belief in Christ and commitment to a strong heritage guides Badger Church through its 21st century Christian journey.
